Brief Biography

Focused and highly experienced person with a proven record of accomplishment of leading government offices for 37 years and implementing many research and development projects. A dedicated agriculturist and development researcher with around 34 publications in reputed research journals. I have obtained BSc (Agric.) from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and obtained MSc in Plant Pathology from the Punjab Agricultural University, India. After graduation, I have joined the Department of Agriculture as a Research Officer and retired as Director of Agriculture from the Ministry of Agriculture, Sri Lanka. After retirement, I have joined CIRDAP as a Programme Officer.

Field of Interests

I have been working as a Plant Pathologist on Potato and Temperate vegetables. Also, I have an interest in Mushroom production and one of the pioneers to introduce Button Mushroom cultivation in Sri Lanka. I have thirty-four years of research experience on pathological aspects of potato cultivation, seed potato production, and Temperate vegetable production. Also, I have mastered seed potato production using modern technologies. As a development practitioner, my experience in the agriculture sector is immense. I have three years of working experience in Integrated Rural Development in the Asia-Pacific region incorporating the role of food production, and value chain.
