I retired recently (31 January 2023) from the FAO in my last post as the regional Senior Program Officer of FAO Representation Network—given my wide-ranging responsibility and capacity to coordinate and support all FAO’s Country Offices throughout the whole Asia-Pacific region. Prior to this position, I worked as the (former) FAO Representatives in Nepal and Bhutan (2013 to 2020), acted and served as the FAO Representative for Myanmar, ad interim (a.i.)–from Feb-Jul 2021, and the FAO Representative a.i. for India–from 2022 to 2023. Before FAO, I had 16-year working experiences at the ASAEN Secretariat (1997-2013).
Throughout my career-path with the FAO—at the countries and regional offices—I lead the design, development and implementation of FAO’s countries’ programs and ground works, given priorities to strengthen agriculture and food system, enhance agricultural productivity, protect environment, conserve natural resources, promote climate-resilient, and reduce rural poor. Further more, my previous works with ASEAN also covered a wide range of regional and global issues, among others: food security, biofuel, forestry, biodiversity, environment, climate change actions, trade promotion and market integration, transport and connectivity, information and communication technology (ICT), narrowing development gaps, pandemic preparedness etc.
