Brief Biography

Currently working as Assistant Professor at the Center for Wage Employment and Livelihoods at the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Hyderabad, India. Her research interests include Sociology of Health and Education, Culture and Tribal Studies, Rural Development, and Ethnography. She is a member of international editorial boards and is involved in teaching, training and research.

Field of Interests

Dr. Roy did her master’s in Social Anthropology from Lucknow University and doctorate in Sociology from IIT Kanpur. Her research interests include Sociology of Health and Education, Culture and Tribal Studies, Rural Development, and Ethnography. She is a member of international editorial boards and has been involved in teaching, training and research at her institute. She has national and international publications to her name and strives to bridge the gap between theory and practice through her writings and research. She has presented paper at universities of repute such as Oxford University, Imperial College London and University of Berkeley, California.

  3. Impact Evaluation of Financial Literacy and Development Interventions of UPASaC on Financial Inclusion, 2019-20 (Rs.1 million sponsored by Uttarakhand Government) as a research team member.
  4. Case Study on Assessing the Impact of Poshan Abhiyaan among Tribal population in Gudur Mandal, Mahbubabad district, Telangana, 2021-22 with a budget of Rs. 45,000 sponsored by NIRDPR. (Completed)
  5. Consultancy project: Final evaluation study of Watershed projects of special plan (KBK) 150 MWS under RLTAP schemes in KBK districts of Odisha, Directorate of Soil Conservation and Watershed, Government of Odisha, 2017-19, Rs. 9,44,000 as a team member.
